Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is a dispute resolution body established in terms of the Labour Relations Act, 66 of 1995 (LRA). It is an independent body, does not belong to and is not controlled by any political party, trade union or business. It was established to provide the country with an accessible, user-friendly and, above all, inexpensive labour dispute resolution system. Workers who have allegedly been unfairly dismissed or the victims of various unfair labour practices are able to approach the CCMA alone or with certain categories of recognised representatives in order to seek redress for workplace wrongs.

Public Service Commission
The Public Service Commission (PSC) covers personnel procedures relating to recruitment, transfers, promotions and dismissals, investigates grievances of employees in the public service concerning official acts or omissions and advises national and provincial organs of state regarding personnel practices in the public service.

Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council
Public service bargaining councils, namely, the Public service coordinating bargaining council (PSCBC) and the Public health and social development sectoral bargaining council (PHSDSBC) are the fora for negotiating salaries for public service employees. SAMA is the official organisation representing doctors on these councils.

South African Medical Association
The South African Medical Association (SAMA) employs well trained Labour Relations advisors who advise, represent and engage various employers, on behalf of affected members throughout the country. Their primary role and function is to prevent and resolve employment complaints and disputes; with the following issues: Grievances, Disciplinary matters, Unfair labour practices and dismissals disputes, Unfair discrimination and employment equity matters, and Litigation.
