Posted in Thriving in Rural Health Care

We are committed to rural proofing undergraduate curricula so that interns and community service officers can provide appropriate services at PHC clinics and District Hospital. To do this we support the Cairns Call for Action. Cairns Call for Action looks at changes needed to ensure students and young Professionals can survive & thrive in rural areas. We are also part of the international Rural Seeds movement that brings students, young professionals and rural veterans together to discuss rural issues and adapting to rural life. The universities also have student rural health clubs and they meet annually at the Rural Health Conference either at the Students AGM or the Rural Seeds workshop. The various health clubs have joined together as YARD. For more information about health clubs or Rural Seeds go to our Student Rural Health Club page.

To support Interns and Young Doctors we are developing a "Survive & Thrive" mentoring programme. This programme includes access to our Learning Portal, sharing with colleagues through Doctor Dialogue and the occasional Rural Doctors Retreat

If you are doing your Internship or Community Service you may like to join Africa Health Placements CSO Connect programme
